Spider Vein Treatment (Sclerotherapy or Hyfercation)
Previous

Why consider Spider Vein Treatment?
Sclerotherapy or hyfercation causes unsightly spider veins to collapse and fade from view, minimizing their appearance. It may also remedy bothersome symptoms associated with spider veins such as aching, burning, swelling and night cramps.

How it's done
The procedure is also relatively quick, lasting between 15 and 45 minutes. A sclerosing solution is injected into the affected veins through a thin needle. Spider veins of the face are treated with a tiny electric needle. Bright light and magnification ensure maximum precision. Two or more sessions usually achieve the best results.

Expectations
Following scleropathy, the veins should appear lighter and less noticeable but likely will not disappear completely.

Side Effects/Risks
Common side effects include some cramping for the first day or two after the injections, bruising and reddish areas at the injections sites that usually diminish in one month. Yet, some patients experience brownish splotches that may remain on the affected skin for months before fading.

The risks associated with this procedure are blood clots in the veins, severe inflammation, and adverse allergic reactions to the sclerosing solution and skin injury that may result in a scar.

Healing Process
After the procedure, support hose are worn for 48 hours. Patients should allow one month between sessions.
