Why consider a MicroLaser Peel?
Patients who would prefer a stronger alternative than microdermabrasion or light chemical peels may benefit from the MicroLaser Peel. This procedure provides a significant improvement in skin texture and tightness, visible within just days. The face, neck, chest, hands and forearms can be treated. |
How it's done
This partial to full epidermal peel is performed with a topical anesthetic and typically is repeated 2 to 4 times, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. The peel ablates the outermost layers of the skin (20 to 50 microns), as compared to microdermabrasion, which removes 5-10 microns. Many peels can be done to achieve the desired look. |
Expectations
Patients should show a smoother, healthier and more luminous complexion. Skin conditions such as wrinkles, scars, acne scars, keratoses and pigment problems may be successfully treated with this peel. |
Side Effects/Risks
Immediately following the procedure, it will feel like a bad sunburn with minor sloughing and itching on the second to third day. |
Healing Process
Redness, like a sunburn, usually takes about 7 days to resolve. Redness will begin to fade by the end of the third day and can be covered with make-up on the fourth day. Generally, this procedure can be performed on Friday and the patient can return to work on the following Monday. |
