MicroLaser Peel

Back to Main Page

Why consider a MicroLaser Peel?

Patients who would prefer a stronger alternative than microdermabrasion or light chemical peels may benefit from the MicroLaser Peel. This procedure provides a significant improvement in skin texture and tightness, visible within just days. The face, neck, chest, hands and forearms can be treated.

How it's done

This partial to full epidermal peel is performed with a topical anesthetic and typically is repeated 2 to 4 times, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. The peel ablates the outermost layers of the skin (20 to 50 microns), as compared to microdermabrasion, which removes 5-10 microns. Many peels can be done to achieve the desired look.

Expectations

Patients should show a smoother, healthier and more luminous complexion. Skin conditions such as wrinkles, scars, acne scars, keratoses and pigment problems may be successfully treated with this peel.

Side Effects/Risks

Immediately following the procedure, it will feel like a bad sunburn with minor sloughing and itching on the second to third day.

Healing Process

Redness, like a sunburn, usually takes about 7 days to resolve. Redness will begin to fade by the end of the third day and can be covered with make-up on the fourth day. Generally, this procedure can be performed on Friday and the patient can return to work on the following Monday.
