Spider Vein Treatment (Sclerotherapy )
To minimize the unsightly appearance of spider veins on the legs, a concentrated solution is injected into each affected vein. Two to three treatments at monthly intervals are usually required for optimal results.
How it's done
The concentrated solution is injected into each spider vein. Following the treatment, compression stockings are worn and the legs are kept elevated for 48 hours.
Expectations
The appearance of the spider veins will be significantly reduced if not eliminated.
Side Effects/Risks
Short term side effects include discomfort, bruising, pigmentation changes and persistent or recurrent spider veins. A rarer side effect includes small skin ulcerations at injection sites.
Healing Process
Following each treatment, you should wear compression stockings and keep your feet elevated for 48 hours.
