Mini Tummy Tuck
A mini tummy tuck is a procedure for patients with skin laxity and an accumulation of fatty tissue that does not extend above the navel. This can be caused by weakened lower stomach muscles due to weight fluctuation or pregnancy or an accumulation of fatty tissue. A mini tummy tuck is performed with a shorter incision and less invasive than a full tummy tuck. The best candidate for a mini tummy tuck has a small amount of abdominal skin to remove, has an abdominal area that is beginning to sag, those that do not have a significantly protruding abdominal muscle or desires to sculpt a slim abdomen.
A mini tummy tuck is performed with a lower incision placed in a similar position as a full tummy tuck. The incision however does not extend out to the hip areas as in a full tummy tuck. The incision stays below the belly button instead of above it therefore the belly button does not require repositioning when a mini tummy tuck is performed. This procedure can only tighten the lower tummy just above the belly button down to the pubis. If your concern is the area of loose skin and fatty tissue above the navel then a full tummy tuck is likely required.
